Riviera Nayarit Highlighted New Markets During Tianguis Turístico 2017

tianguisfrontThe 42nd edition of the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco, which took place from March 27-30, 2017, was an excellent stage for the celebration of the Riviera Nayarit’s first ten years as a tourism brand and the state of Nayarit’s 100 years of independence.

In the promotional arena, the destination continues looking to diversify its markets and consolidate new opportunities.

“These past few days we’ve considered co-ops and campaigns for 2017, both on a domestic level as the Riviera Nayarit and on an international level along with Puerto Vallarta,” said Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “We’re seeking prospects mainly in Europe and Latin America. Basically we’d like to consolidate new markets in order to continue growing and alternating the influx of tourists so we can shorten what we call our low season.”

There were over 15 business meetings held between different Tour Operators (TO) and representatives from the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) for the regions of the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta.

Executives from the airlines and other officials were also present at the meetings. They are the ones who will take the lead in creating more and new airlift, which will be what impels these actions. This is precisely what occurred in the case of the successful new flights from London and Manchester with TUI-Thompson.

In fact, one of the meetings was with the director of the Mexico Tourism Board in England, Vicente Salas, and British TO Thomas Cook. During their encounter they negotiated another direct flight from Manchester for 2018.

In other news, the directors also met with Aerolínea Volaris with the purpose of creating new routes from the United States that will be defined in the upcoming months. A key part of diversifying the markets is not losing sight of the destination’s natural ones.

As for domestic connectivity with South America, there was a notable meeting with the executives of Aeromar that included a discussion centered on optimizing flight times and a possible alliance that will improve connectivity with flights from South America.

The committee made up of the Riviera Nayarit CVB, the Nayarit Tourism Secretariat and the hotel sector did not flag in their attempt to showcase the best the state has to offer. On a final note, the Nayarit stand was one of the most visited during this edition of the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco, during which it was announced that Mazatlan would host the next event in 2018.
