Fun, Food, Music and Entertainment, and Arts and Crafts all come together for the Friday afternoon festival Magic Market at Puerto Magico.
First, let me thank the folks at Puerto Magico for making this event happen. Though it may not look like it on the outside, if you haven’t been there yet you would be surprised and impressed by how big and spaciously designed Puerto Magico is. It has a huge octagonal central plaza for gathering and entertaining, with wide halls separating retail spaces. It was a perfect venue for such an event.
Over 100 vendors came from as far as Mascota and Oaxaca offering homemade arts, crafts, and foods. Some vendors worked on-site displaying their creative abilities for all to see. Food vendors made tacos, tortas, grilled food, empanadas, paella, ceviche, widlicoache, vegan food, and crepes. There was also freshly baked bread, sweet breads, juices, icy drinks, cakes, candies, and ice cream. Other food products included specialty sauces and salsas, coffee products, honey, vanilla, marmalades, raicilla, and ponche.
The arts and crafts were delightful. Vendors offering authentic Mexican goods brought clothing, jewelry, wood products, stone carvings, pine needle baskets, Huichol art, handmade bags, beautifully painted artwork, and more. Other vendors brought organic body products such as soaps, oils, creams, lotions, lip balms, and salves.
Plus, live entertainment filled the plaza all evening. There were fully costumed traditional Mexican dancers, a mime show that the kids loved, and a rocking guitarist accompanied by violin. Groups of chairs were appropriately spaced throughout the plaza, giving guests a great place to sit down and enjoy their fabulous food and watch the show while their children played and danced.
So gather up your friends and family and come on down next Friday for an evening of fun, food, and shopping. Make sure to come hungry, as there is a wide variety of fresh food for everyone’s palette. Puerto Magico offers all the space necessary for social distancing, and they are taking all recommended safety precautions. Keep in mind that during Covid businesses are struggling, so PLEASE take the time to walk around and support the vendors, their families are counting on them. There are lots of great homemade and organic products to enjoy, and supporting these vendors means that they will keep coming back.
Magic Market starts at 4:00 on Friday afternoons and is open until 9:00. Parking and admission are free, just come down to the new Puerto Magico cruise ship terminal.
See You Next Week!!
