3wisemenfrontThis is the traditional day when Mexicans exchange gifts in honor of the arrival of the three gift-bearing wise men to baby Jesus.

The Three Kings Loaf (Rosca de los Reyes) is served. This round, doughnut-shaped cake contains three little plastic dolls inside.

By tradition, if you are served a slice that contains the doll, you must host a party on Día de la Candelaria (see Feb. 2).

Día de los Santos Reyes (Three Kings’ Day) is considered a religious holiday/festivity day, not a state holiday.
