A Steady Growth Trend for the Tax Administration.
From January to July 2023, a total of 1,463,858 individuals and legal entities were registered with the Federal Taxpayer Registry. Among these, 1,403,583 are individuals, marking a 135% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, there was a 55% increase in legal entities, totaling 60,275.
The registration of individuals through mass media channels increased by 47%, rising from 158,911 registrations in the January to July period of 2022 to 233,134 in the same period of 2023. It appears that the surge in mass registration requests was not limited to Puerto Vallarta but occurred nationwide. Even entities like hotels in Puerto Vallarta have initiated official SAT registration procedures for their employees, a process that the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare deemed unnecessary.
Nevertheless, the figures reported by the SAT are remarkable and clearly demonstrate that the revenue generated significantly supports the robust welfare state that sustains various social programs, which continue to expand substantially. Despite unique tax collection measures in Jalisco, where the tax system is divided between the Federal SAT and the State SAT, Jalisco remains a high contributor to the Mexican nation's revenue.
