palmarThe number of Blue Flag-certified beaches in Mexico has surged from 35 to 53 following this year’s round of certifications.

The results of the Blue Flag International Jury 2018 were announced yesterday, certifying 18 new beach destinations in Baja California Sur, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Quintana Roo.

Mexico already had two marinas with the certification, whose criteria include water quality, safety, environmental education and information, the services available and environmental management.

The Blue Flag certifications are issued on an annual basis by the non-profit Foundation for Environmental Education
