Mexico City to receive Capital Award for Social Innovation 2018

mexicocityaward2018frontMexico City will be awarded the Capital of Social Innovation Award, Sinnix 2018, by the Organization of American States (OAS), the Internet Association MX and Propulsar, for its support to young entrepreneurs.

After the announcement made at the Cultural and Visitor Center "El Rule", the Minister of Economic Development of Mexico City, Salomón Chertorivski, thanked the distinction, saying that this recognition is due to the work of organizations, academia, civil society and government.

"We have to make a lot of echo if we want to see that exceptional talent, which surpasses that in other parts of the world, and that is turned into fantastic companies that generate the social good and generate the economic wealth that our country needs," he warned.

In front of young entrepreneurs, who also gave recognition and donations as part of the "Dare to undertake" program, the local official said that, currently, 50 percent of the population of the capital and the entire country is in the age of production, because is under 31 years of age.

"I think a lot is born of rethinking in the early stages that a way to earn a living, generate good, wealth, responsibilities and a better country is to do our own business, and that business does not necessarily have to be a traditional business, but something that we have not dreamed it is there, "said Chertorivski Woldenberg.

In an interview with Notimex, the director of the company Propulsar, Raúl Rodrigo Pérez Hernández, revealed that the idea of ??the award came two years ago to recognize the cities that, with the government, the academy and the business sector provide the bases to promote and develop entrepreneurship.

"We compare what the different cities in Latin America are doing and we realize that Mexico City was the number one in terms of social innovation," he said.

He explained that during 2018 Mexico City will be an ambassador and example of other cities in Latin America on the subject of innovation, so it must also promote entrepreneurship as the motor of the economy in families and society.

He maintained that the Sinnix 2018 award will be delivered next February and that the evaluation will continue in other cities in the continent to award recognition each year.
